Okay… so it’s been a couple weeks. I lost my job a few weeks ago, and we all know that’s common in this economy (I was working for Weddingbee.com, the top wedding blog, and I loved it). Facing the reality of being back “on the market” with so many other people, I took some time to do tons of thinking, visit some friends, and now I’m back, ready to catch up with all the seriously astounding stuff selling on eBay right now. I still am not sure what exactly I’m going to do now, but I will have to at least temporarily leave NYC and head home to Miami. I’m moving back in about a week. After seeing all the eBay auctions I missed, I’ve been fantasizing about becoming a “professional eBay shopper”. Talk about a dream job!
Armani Lace Skirt. I mean, come on, just look at it. This is AMAAAAAAAAZING. It retailed for $2695… yeah, and it sold on eBay for $249.99 with the original tags attached… yep. I want to offer mega-congrats to whoever out there won this life-altering skirt on eBay.
Someone nabbed these incredible, embroidered shearling Miu Miu boots. I envy the winner, who got these beauties for just $82.
Whiting & Davis Blue Mesh Handbag. I never imagined loving a mesh handbag until I saw this. Retailed for $300, sold for $74.99.

There are always tons of vintage beaded purses on eBay, but this one steals the show. This one ended at over $600, but didn’t reach the reserve price. Maybe it will be relisted…

This is still on Anthropologie’s website right now for $48 (here). And it’s worth the price, but I got it for $30 on eBay using a gift card I’ve been holding onto! Let me tell you, I’ve seen this necklace online several times and thought it was just “nice”, but it wasn’t until I saw designer Sweet Pea wearing it on Project Runway’s All Star Challenge last week that I realized “WHOAAAAAAA I NEED THAT NECKLACE!”. I pretty much logged into eBay right away and snapped it up! The photo doesn’t do justice to it. This necklace is large and has a lot of presence. What I really like it about it that the stones are subdued without looking cheap, and the gold beads really are semi-glossy-to-matte, and the gray strand is made of jersey, which makes the necklace extremely versatile. I wasn’t the only one who noticed how great the necklace looked on Sweet Pea… I saw people twittering over it and Sweet Pea herself got so many questions about it, she had to tell everyone about the necklace on her own blog, Sweet P Vaughn. Thanks Sweet Pea for opening my eyes (and eBay for being way too convenient)!

Today I met a friend for lunch. I know that she tends to like chain restaurants, and I tend to love breadsticks, so we met in the middle at Olive Garden. Yes. Out of everywhere to go in NYC, I am proud to have chosen Olive Garden (don’t hate me). We had a lot of catching up to do… actually six hours worth. My boyfriend went with me and did a great job of hanging in there as her and I talked all those hours about “girl stuff” (he knows it will always be a 5-8 hour ordeal when I meet up with her, we always have too much catching up to do). Moved to NYC, check. Got a job and an apartment in 6 days, check. Realized I had done it all too quickly, and made the tough choice to quit the job, check. I’m dubbing this “Ebay Item of the Month”. I know we’re still early in the month, but this will be very hard to top- a Prada chain mail top. This is so runway! The auction started at $0.99 and ended at $275.99 and this top is worth every penny of that and so much more. I don’t even want to guess what the original retail price was. I wish this were mine, but want to say major congrats to whoever won this piece of art! This sort of thing probaly won’t show up again for a long time.

This has got to be one of the best YSL necklaces I’ve ever seen. The justification is easy: it’s a statement-maker, and most importantly you can wear it TWO ways. The necklace can be worn on its own, or attached to a black, velvet underlay that completely transforms it. So, I am in the process of packing up to move to NYC. I have been scrambling around in mounds of clothing and boxes, trying to get it all together. First of all, I want to say that Kuku Vintage is currently carrying about 10 items that are worthy of being dubbed “item of the week”. Secondly, I want to say that it’s stores like this that make it soooo hard to stop spending, especially if you love a little avant garde flair in your closet. Leather? Check. Lace? Check. Big Ruffles? Check. The list goes on. For the vintage fur lovers, Kuku Vintage has also got you covered big time with much more fur than similar shops. Somebody please tell me how they found an amazing big 80s sweater that I am dying over! I don’t even like sweaters! I also am not a fur fan, but they have a teal leather vest, with wide shoulders and fur panels, that actually may be the hottest super-80’s vest I’ve ever seen. See what I mean:

Neon Life Vintage is a great little stop if you love quirky vintage pieces with unusual details. I had never seen an 80’s pastel-floral-fringed jacket actually look good until I saw the one they’re selling right now. I also have no idea how they found a denim studded jumpsuit that look cute. Twenty Three Vintage is a pretty new store, but they started off with a bang. I don’t know her name but I swear their blond model was on a season of America’s Next Top Model. Their attention-grabbing clothing is impossible to ignore. I can’t even believe how many items I am lusting over from this store!
