Ridiculous Ebay Splurge Fantasy: Dolce & Gabbana Magenta Coat

There is no other option but to be the center of attention in this Dolce & Gabbana coat. It’s a flashy magenta and gold combination with substantial crystal buttons, and of course the signature leopard print lining. This was $2995 originally, but now it’s on eBay at $1500. With the tags still attached, I wonder how long it will take for someone to buy it. The seller is also accepting offers, however, that doesn’t mean you can get it for “cheap”. I have a feeling, though, with Christmas around the corner, someone lucky will go for it.

Back In Town… and I missed tons of mind-blowing auctions….

Okay… so it’s been a couple weeks. I lost my job a few weeks ago, and we all know that’s common in this economy (I was working for Weddingbee.com, the top wedding blog, and I loved it). Facing the reality of being back “on the market” with so many other people, I took some time to do tons of thinking, visit some friends, and now I’m back, ready to catch up with all the seriously astounding stuff selling on eBay right now. I still am not sure what exactly I’m going to do now, but I will have to at least temporarily leave NYC and head home to Miami. I’m moving back in about a week. After seeing all the eBay auctions I missed, I’ve been fantasizing about becoming a “professional eBay shopper”.  Talk about a dream job!

Armani Lace Skirt. I mean, come on, just look at it. This is AMAAAAAAAAZING. It retailed for $2695… yeah, and it sold on eBay for $249.99 with the original tags attached… yep. I want to offer mega-congrats to whoever out there won this life-altering skirt on eBay.

Someone nabbed these incredible, embroidered shearling Miu Miu boots. I envy the winner, who got these beauties for just $82.

Whiting & Davis Blue Mesh Handbag. I never imagined loving a mesh handbag until I saw this. Retailed for $300, sold for $74.99.

I also was impressed with this vintage Whiting & Davis mesh top which sold for $162.49.

This vintage locket is simply a clear, 1″ sphere, but somehow that’s what makes it extraordinary, which explains why the auction went up to $158.49.

There are always tons of vintage beaded purses on eBay, but this one steals the show. This one ended at over $600, but didn’t reach the reserve price. Maybe it will be relisted…

The Watchlist: Solid Deals

There are so many deals on cool stuff going on this week, I am totally (and happily) overwhelmed. Here’s everything that caught my eye.

Fendi Coat. This is just amazing. Ruffles, a big collar, a wide belt, and a 2-layer effect on the sleeves are incredible enough, but then they had to add the buttons detailed with an organic design and the Fendi logo in the center. Faints*. Currently $190 with just over a day remaining.

Burberry Prorsum Studded Flats. This is an amazing buy if you’re a size 36 (US 6) in shoes. I wish they were a size 8… very tempting. Currently $103 ending tonight. (P.S. you can also check out other studded Burberry shoes on eBay like these awesome studded rainboots or sandals)

Is there such a thing as a compact mirror that’s “too posh”? I’m not sure, but I can say that this Kenneth Jay Lane compact mirror, which retailed for over $200, is fun to look at. Maybe I wouldn’t pull it out at a baseball game, but maybe I would at a fancy dinner.

Daily Ebay Splurge Fantasy: Dolce & Gabbana “Miss Orient” Handbag

At $699, this is a far cry the original retail price of $1995, but not far enough for me. I’m not usually into standard black handbags, but I suppose the leather and the details on this make it everything but standard. I can’t stop staring at it. It’s too hot. Notice how the bottom of the bag is just as cool as the top… love it. $699 isn’t a cheap price so I’m hoping this one will get re-listed someday before someone scoops it up.

The Watchlist: Something Shiny

Daily Ebay Splurge Fantasy: Matthew Williamson Coat

I love love love (add a million more “loves”) this coat. The pictures get the gist of it but I’m certain they arne’t capturing the true glory of the multicolor wool-blend going on here. The scarf is attached to the coat, which I also really love. Add cool buttons and a tie-waist and there’s just nothing more I could ask for. Except a lower price. Currently on eBay at $300, it’s worth every penny, but by no means cheap. Maybe if I stare at it long enough, I will have a dream tonight that it’s mine.

Darn! Just Missed It: A Tory Burch Necklace, Chanel Blouse, & A Prada Skirt

I am a turquoise addict. I have been stalking big turquoise jewelry for months now. I really prefer turquoise and gold rather than the stone with silver, and that combination is less popular. So, when this out-of-control Tory Burch necklace popped up, I had “decided” it was mine. Tory Burch stuff is normally always pricey and on eBay, bids on her stuff are pretty competitive. I wasn’t worried at all, because knew I was “ready” for this one…. until I overslept in a nap one evening and totally missed the auction. Yeah. Awesome. The necklace sold for $117, and yeah it’s not cheap but it’s also not anywhere near the orignal retail price. It was higher than I wanted to pay for it anyway though, so I guess that’s how the universe works.

This Chanel blouse was calling my name because, other than the fact that it’s a great top, I just knew that a lot of people weren’t going to find the auction because the starting bid price was set at $75. And that’s exactly where it sold. If this item had begun at a lower price, more people would have found it, and it would have sold for perhaps twice as much. But no, somebody scooped up this Chanel blouse for the cost of a jacket at H&M. Major eBay victory high-five to whoever that was!

This Prada pencil skirt auction is still blowing my mind. It sold for $24.50. ARE YOU HEARING THAT? $24.50. No strings attached- in great condition, from a highly rated seller, for the price of dinner at a restaurant. The deal is so ridiculous, it almost needs a moment of silence.

Daily Splurge Fantasy: Ports 1961 Dress

I must say, this might be my favorite yellow dress out of all the ones I’ve ever seen on eBay. If i had the budget for this, I would scoop it up right away. Ports 1961, in my opinion, always nails it when it comes to dresses. I was already prone to loving it because the color and the detailing is amazing, but then the hanging strap action in the back takes the dress to yet another level. The retail was $1199 and it’s currently on eBay at $528. I’ve been watching it for quite sometime, hoping the price would go down, but I’m almost certain it won’t, because somebody out there will find it and gasp. See what I mean:

This Cole Haan suede mini flap bag originally retailed for $225. There are select colors available (here) on the Cole Haan website now at the reduced price of $157.95. But I got this bag for a cheap-tastic $17, BRAND NEW WITH THE TAGS STILL ATTACHED. VICTORY!!!!!! I’m making an effort to get ready for the fall season a little early this year, and this little bargain triumph lets me know I’m planning it right!

Daily Splurge Fantasy: Chanel Shoes with HUGE Rhinestones

I had never seen anything quite like these strappy Chanel sandals, in light pink satin, with easily the largest rhinestones that anyone could put on a shoe. Normally I would expect such a big stone to look cheap, but here, it just looks extremely cool. Retailing for $960, these were technically a bargain on eBay at $405, but obviously still an investment.

Ok, so last week I had the immense pleasure of attending the 2009 Ebay Holiday Preview Event in NYC. The event was fantastic, so I have to fill you in and show you some pictures! They had tons of cool stuff, plus cocktails, a DJ, and (yes!) gift bags!

First of all, the event was designed to help enlighten people about the limitless scope of the product offerings on eBay.  Many people have heard of eBay, but most people still don’t understand that there is almost nothing you can’t find on eBay. I’m so glad they had this event to showcase the vast array of what is available, from fashion to electronics, vintage to new, because I feel so strongly about that message too (I mean obviously, I’m and eBay addict). The also gave insight into some of the biggest trends that have been going on in the last year on eBay, which I always think is cool. I love statistics about what items are getting more popular on eBay.

In the midst of being amazed at all the items they set up, I was able to mingle with all sorts of people involved with different aspects of eBay. That was fantastic because, as if meeting eBay people isn’t enough of a perk for me, I got some great ideas/advice too!

For $49 I landed this AMAAAAAAZING jacket. The picture does all the talking.

In another act of outrageously smooth bargain shopping, I ended up with this top for just $29, rather than the $200 it sold for at retail stores.

Akris Punto Blazer.

I paid $18.99 for this. This retailed for more than $400. This bargain was as close to getting away with crime as it gets. I love that it has hook-and-eye closures. And obviously the tailoring is perfection.

You know J. Crew has been having some really solid sales lately right? I mean really, really solid. Well, I was sick, and I missed all these sales. They were selling everything in this gorgeous “Gladiola” print for incredible prices, and everything sold out in a flash. So, I got this J Crew Gladiola blouse on eBay! WOOOHOOOO! $29.

This one is special because it’s by Italian designer Kosmika, which is a rare find here in the states. I got it for $21.49, and every time I put it on it get compliments. It’s a sweat jacket, but better.
