This week I completed half of my Christmas shopping on eBay! I am so tempted to post what I got, but that would ruin the surprise for my friends an family who check the blog. Daily Splurge Fantasy: Louis Vuitton Rubber Raincoat. Yes the WHOLE COAT IS RUBBER!

This is not your average raincoat made of vinyl or plastic. It’s made from the same rubber as your classic rainboot.  From a distance, it looks like any other coat, but the closer shots really show the material well. The original retail price: $3350. This is currently available on eBay at $1275. I’ll keep dreaming.

The Watchlist: It’s REALLY Fall Now

This Yohij Yamamoto coat is easily one of the coolest black coats I’ve seen in a while, due to cool geometry and alternating fabrics. $68, one day left.

I have no idea what year this BCBG coat came from, but it’s awesome and definitely a rare sort of thing with that vibrant blue fur. If you are the anti-wallflower who loves vintage stuff, this is for you. And it’s only $30 with a day remaining.

Cynthia Steffe Coat. Retailed for nearly $500. Now $65 with 10 hours left. Over the last year I developed an addiction for everything lavendar, which, along with the wonderful price, is making it hard to ignore coat.

It’s Miu Miu. It’s Sparkly. It’s Bronze. I want it. Only $23.50 ending tonight.

Dries Van Noten Circular Scarf. These are getting more and more popular, so you’ll probably see circular scarves everywhere soon. I just love anything that’s yellow + neutral.

A rare oppoutunuty to get anything MK2k this cheap. It pays to search for lesser known labels – $9 with less than 24 hours left. This easily retailed for $250 or more.

Daily Splurge Fantasy

I want this Felipe Oliveira Baptista blue coat so badly, I think I’m going to explode. As if the color alone weren’t enough, the skinny lapel, cocoon shape, slanted pockets, and little silver buttons take it far beyond the norm. It’s currently priced at $295. If it’s starting to get a little chilly in your area nowadays and you don’t have a coat you love, just go for it. It’s worth it.

The Watchlist: Solid Deals

There are so many deals on cool stuff going on this week, I am totally (and happily) overwhelmed. Here’s everything that caught my eye.

Fendi Coat. This is just amazing. Ruffles, a big collar, a wide belt, and a 2-layer effect on the sleeves are incredible enough, but then they had to add the buttons detailed with an organic design and the Fendi logo in the center. Faints*. Currently $190 with just over a day remaining.

Burberry Prorsum Studded Flats. This is an amazing buy if you’re a size 36 (US 6) in shoes. I wish they were a size 8… very tempting. Currently $103 ending tonight. (P.S. you can also check out other studded Burberry shoes on eBay like these awesome studded rainboots or sandals)

BCBG “Ivanka” Colorblocked Slingbacks. This retailed for $240 and are now on sale at BCBG.com for $150, but you can get them on eBay for even less…. $20.50, ending tonight.

J. Crew Gray & Neon Flats. I think I want J. Crew flats in every color combination that it possible, but this has got to be one of the best. Plus it’s a real bargain at just $33.59, ending tonight.

Tory Burch Cluthch/Wallet. I just can’t stay away from neon. $75 ending tonight. A nice deal compared to the $198 retail price.

Is there such a thing as a compact mirror that’s “too posh”? I’m not sure, but I can say that this Kenneth Jay Lane compact mirror, which retailed for over $200, is fun to look at. Maybe I wouldn’t pull it out at a baseball game, but maybe I would at a fancy dinner.

Tory Burch Fringe Necklace. This brings a whole lot of style to an outfit for the easy price of $29.

Daily Ebay Splurge Fantasy: Matthew Williamson Coat

I love love love (add a million more “loves”) this coat. The pictures get the gist of it but I’m certain they arne’t capturing the true glory of the multicolor wool-blend going on here. The scarf is attached to the coat, which I also really love. Add cool buttons and a tie-waist and there’s just nothing more I could ask for. Except a lower price. Currently on eBay at $300, it’s worth every penny, but by no means cheap. Maybe if I stare at it long enough, I will have a dream tonight that it’s mine.

I am strangely drawn into lusting over this simple vintage Dior belt. It’s only $11.50. I really like the buckle.

Catching Up: Only The Best

Moved to NYC, check. Got a job and an apartment in 6 days, check. Realized I had done it all too quickly, and made the tough choice to quit the job, check. Just sat down yesterday to breathe for the first time in more than 2 weeks… and saw the Star Trek movie last night, check. You should go see it too, it’s perfection. The only thing I sadly didn’t squeeze in recently was these great eBay auctions, too lovely for me not to post. Enjoy catching up with me, and be ready for a slew of hotness this week, as I can tell that eBay seems to be ramping back up to it’s true glory again (perhaps its the air of optimism that the economy is getting better soon).

I’m dubbing this “Ebay Item of the Month”. I know we’re still early in the month, but this will be very hard to top- a Prada chain mail top. This is so runway! The auction started at $0.99 and ended at $275.99 and this top is worth every penny of that and so much more. I don’t even want to guess what the original retail price was. I wish this were mine, but want to say major congrats to whoever won this piece of art! This sort of thing probaly won’t show up again for a long time.

This Prada dress wins a close 2nd place… retailing for a super-heftly $3315, this to-die-for piece sold for $769. I swear if I EVER see this dress again in my size I will have to at least put in a bid.

This Dolce Vita dress retailed for $248, sold on eBay for $9.99. I should have been on this auction. It pays to look for designer lines that not everyone searches for.

Don’t forget to check out the “buy it now” items in your favorite eBay store. Usually these are great items that are reasonably priced, but you have more time to think about purchasing them compared to items in auctions. Most auctioned items are available for 7 to 9 days, and often experience stiff competition. Buy-it-now items last for up to 30 days, and endure much less competition, because they are not made visible in auction listings! Most of you favorite eBay stores offer buy-it-now items that you might not find if you don’t know to look, so don’t miss out!

So, I am in the process of packing up to move to NYC. I have been scrambling around in mounds of clothing and boxes, trying to get it all together. When it’s all done, I will have had a total of 10 days to pack. Is that enough time or am I just  inefficient? My real problem is the “junk drawer”… I have 4 of those. I am vowing to get more organized, so I want to sort out all the junk and pack it up in a very organized way. In the midst of that lofty goal, I missed quite a few outstanding eBay auctions. I am recovering.

A stunning Christian Dior Dress ended at $172. Whoever one this dream dress, major congrats!

(Extremely) Fab Ebay Store: Kuku Vintage

First of all, I want to say that Kuku Vintage is currently carrying about 10 items that are worthy of being dubbed “item of the week”. Secondly, I want to say that it’s stores like this that make it soooo hard to stop spending, especially if you love a little avant garde flair in your closet. Leather? Check. Lace? Check. Big Ruffles? Check. The list goes on. For the vintage fur lovers, Kuku Vintage has also got you covered big time with much more fur than similar shops. Somebody please tell me how they found an amazing big 80s sweater that I am dying over! I don’t even like sweaters! I also am not a fur fan, but they have a teal leather vest, with wide shoulders and fur panels, that actually may be the hottest super-80’s vest I’ve ever seen. See what I mean:

My Recent Wardrobe Additions… and Omissions

Let’s start out with what I got on eBay. Okay, eBay was slower in January than I anticipated, but there was still a huge pile of stuff I wish I could have purchased. I had to keep it simple. Out of everything I saw, I was very fortunate to narrow it down to this Reiss blazer which I won on eBay for just $27! I literally just spotted this blazer in the UK edition of Marie Claire and it retailed for about $450. I gasped when I saw it because I think it’s the hottest thing ever. Then it magically showed up on eBay, for cheap. Magic? Fate? Well, at the very least it’s very, very good luck.

I recently got extremely lucky and was able to pick up some items that had been on my wishlist for MONTHS. First of all, living in Miami means I normally can’t spend much on winter staples, but a few interviews in the northeast gave me plenty of excuse to run out and buy a coat. Unfortunately, I found myself unimpressed with the styles and even the post-holiday prices on coats in the Miami area, and I was in a time crunch to get a coat with interviews coming up so soon. In an amazing stroke of luck, my sister decided to send me a Nordtroms gift card to “celebrate the new year”, and Nordstroms.com happened to have the coat of my dreams on sale- this Soia & Kyo Joana coat. I managed to squeeze in some classic BCBG pumps on the gift card too! Obviously my sister is an awesome gift-giver.

Forever21.com  is a site I check pretty frequently, but for what seems like more than a year, I haven’t really loved many of their items. I was very pleasantly surprised when this hot bustier top showed up at just $12.80, and I immediately knew I had to have it. Plus the straps are removable. With a price this cheap, it was impossible not to buy it! It looks so hot with blazers and cardigans that I wish it came in every color.

I saw this Pour La Victoire shoe in several magazines many months ago and have wanted it ever since, but it was priced too high for my budget. After the holidays, Endless.com had the shoe on sale. I let just a few days go by as I considered if I should buy it at the new lower price, but by the time I was ready, it had sold out in my size in every color. It had almost sold out in all sizes actually. In a moment of what I call retail fate, I went to Zappos.com and found THE LAST PAIR IN SIZE 8 in the color I wanted, red, also on sale, and felt like I had just won lottery. This shoe is so amazing- I don’t know where to begin- the color combination, the gold zipper… the fact that it’s so comfortable- all amazing. This shoe definitely made me feel like 2009 was off to a great start. Zappos is out of most average sizes in this shoe, but if you love this shoe too, you might be able to find some still available on Amazon.com for just $59 including shipping!

So, the economy is a mess. Can’t buy everything. I saved up for some shopping, but even with the sales and the gift card hookup from my sister, I gotta hold off for a while. This is what else I may have gotten if it weren’t for the “tough times” and my “recent grad money issues” going on right now.

Marc Jacobs Coat. Still has the retail tag attached with the $1500 price! This just sold for $53 plus $15 shipping for a total of $68! OUTRAGEOUS BARGAIN. I wanted it so bad because I love this amazing color combination and I doubt this will pop up on eBay again… sigh*

Marni Sandals. $65. Seriously… these went for $65. sigh again*

Tibi Dress with Leather Belt. This went for about $50. I love it, but I just don’t need this sort of thing right now. Besides, I love my new shoes more anyway! (That’s how I help my self get over it lol)

Fab Ebay Stores: Neon Life Vintage & Twenty Three Vintage

Neon Life Vintage is a great little stop if you love quirky vintage pieces with unusual details. I had never seen an 80’s pastel-floral-fringed jacket actually look good until I saw the one they’re selling right now. I also have no idea how they found a denim studded jumpsuit that look cute. Twenty Three Vintage is a pretty new store, but they started off with a bang. I don’t know her name but I swear their blond model was on a season of America’s Next Top Model.
