I always was creative and I always loved fashion and loved being smart with my money. After months of finding amazing things at great prices through digging into eBay, I became an eBay seller- and that was just as much fun as being a buyer. I started selling Manoush, Robert Rodriguez, Milly, Nanette Lepore, Catherine Malandrino and tons of other cool lines. Also, since I was always designing my own clothing and jewelry, I dabbled on both sides of etsy.com. For my birthday, I asked my friends to go with me to a BCBG warehouse sale and other sample sales, and that was way better than any party. I love anything that stands out and “makes” the outfit. As a reader of countless blogs, I want to let the world know that apparently, there are not enough people who realize just how much they’re missing out on the world’s best fashion site- eBay. Should you see something on this blog and realize “Oh my! I DO need to be on eBay!”, I have done my duty. Just like you, I love a great sale at a department store or discount retailer, and living in LA and NYC means of course I go to sample sales, but still, nothing compares to the deals on get on eBay.
I have gotten a few emails and comments from people who are “afraid” to do eBay. You guys have brought up some good points. But I know from personal experience, you are selling yourself short. After being around for so long, eBay has analized it’s online auction experience down to a science, and gives you everything you need to shop smart.
Right now, eBay is a really great place for BUYERS to be. After years of extremely successful buying on the site, I can tell you that while bad buyers and sellers do exist, negative experiences on eBay are very rare, making up a small percent of total transactions. And because of the tools you can use in eBay as well as Paypal, there are several option for resolving issues. Right now buyers can find some of the best prices I’ve seen in years on eBay, and buyers have the longer end of the stick in giving feedback scores and detailed reviews of their shopping experience.
The goal of this site is to help the real fashionistas out there understand how to use all the eBay tools properly, and thus be able to buy tons of awesome fashions at ridiculously good prices while avoiding the WRONG sellers. I encourage you to be good, honest buyers as well, and beyond that, I want people to just have fun! Ebay is FUN! Ebay is like one huge fashion magazine, so even when you aren’t buying, I hope you enjoy the “window shopping” as much as I do. This site is about appreciating fashion. And eBay is the “magazine” that so often gives us one of a kind items that we will never see again. So just smile, and be inspired by the many designs and creations that are out there.
The Home Page is updated daily with eBay auctions and listings that I think are intriguing which you may enjoy too. I also have a page (being updated all the time) of the 100’s of fashion items I have purchased and loved off ebay. I love when people leave comments so please express yourself.

Hi Elana,
I am so impressed by the amazing treasures you have found on ebay.
It’s obvious that you are very good at what you do.
I found you because you recently left a comment on my blog la-fashion-a-la-mode.blogspot.com. When I saw how much you love ebay I thought WOW! this woman would really like Portero.com. It’s another online auction website but it ONLY sells designer luxury goods. Handbags, jewelry, watches & accessories, Even Shoes!
The difference between Portero & Ebay is…..Portero actually authenticates the product first before placing it up for auction. Then, Portero ships it to the buyer….not the seller. So it’s a even safer than ebay.
Anyway, I just figured you would like the website. = )
You have inspired me to to give ebay another try. But, I’ll always be a Portero fan.

Hi Elana,
Really useful stuff you have written here and I very much agree with your views on the whole ebay thing at the moment. Given the onset of the worldwide credit crunch ebay has suffered quite badly over the last 6 months and has encouraged sellers to reduce prices and promote offers to start customers spending again. The tips above will stand you readers in good stead to grab some early Christmas bargains!
